Pretty Cool
Feb. 9th, 2004 03:46 pmSo the translation department here seems to trust me enough to give me translation jobs (from Greek to English). My Greek professor refered the department to me after she was unable to do a job for them. It's flattering she thinks I can handle it. The last thing I did was a Birth Certificate, which is short, but I get like $25 bucks for it! And now they have another one they would like me to do. Nifty, $50 extra bucks is always cool.
My mp3 player went bust a week ago, and it's not cool. Now I have to send it back and all that jazz. I can't believe my brother paid 150 for the thing, and now the volume button is stuck. He could have gotten an MD player for that much money. But he claims that the ones at Best Buy were more. So he should have gone to the city. And, I mean this thing has like not even one CD worth of space on it. I would have given it back, but this would be the second time he's gotten me and mp3 player which I would have returned. He just didn't do enough research. I wonder how he's doing with Maria, I don't hear anything lately. I think my mother doesn't butt in anymore. Which is great. Gives me hope for when it's my turn.
Today I had a conversation group in Japanese. went rather well. I should be able to get good practice out of this. We watched this crazy Japanese comedy. All their TV shows are crazy.
Today I'm handing back homework in the class that I'm TA'ing. It's really stupid because the book tried to simplify concepts of language so much that it ends up confusing people. Like on some questions you had to classify parts of speech, and the word was "spite" which is a verb AND a noun. But it was obvious from the pattern that it was meant to be a noun in that case. So I took points off from people for being stupid and not noticing the pattern, but also sympathetic since they weren't really wrong. So I didn't take off much.
