Why is it that the shorter the work week, the longer it seems to take to finish. I have a three day weekend coming up, and my class on saturday is also canceled so finally I can get a whole weekend's rest.

Yesterday the school put up the Hina dolls for the girls day doll festival (this town is famous for the dolls, so the school has a set). I was invited to watch them set up.... yeah.... I wanted to help! The hina doll arrangement represents the royal family and their servants and accessories. They are put on seven descending shelves.

The school has a really really old shelf set, and there are no instructions. There was one smart teacher (science teacher) who figured out most of it. But the problem was that the top shelf wasn't big enough. The Emperor and the Empress are much larger than the other dolls. There were two pieces of the shelf that were a mystery. Where did they go? Well, it turns out that they are extensions to make the top shelf wider, and I'm the one who saw it, so now they are in my debt. mwhahaha.

It's funny because the principal didn't want me to touch the shelf (I didn't even try to touch a doll),like every time i tried he'd just come and take it away from me and try it himself. I think because I'm not Japanese (or maybe it's because I'm a woman? either way), and it's sort of a disgrace if he doesn't know how to do it. But really, putting together shelving has nothing to do with nationality, it has to do with spacial relations (which I remember getting 90th percentile on those career test, they always told me I should be a carpenter or something. But when I told my dad I thought that would be cool, he's like "That's too strenuous for a girl, what'll happen when you get older?").
Anyway, I'm all !whoo! about figuring the shelf out.
