Earthquakes and Precipitation
Feb. 15th, 2005 04:31 pmThere was a huge earthquake in the middle of the night yesterday. Well, I guess it wasn't strong, but it was long, like 20 seconds. I was in REM, and it woke me up and I freaked out. But I calmed myself down and went back to sleep. And this morning, what do I see? Snow. It's great 'cause I miss snow, but it sucks because I'm on a bike, holding and umbrella again. And they never cancel school on account of earthquakes or snow, so it's like I'm suffering these things for no reason.
I get the urge to punch the teachers I'm working with more and more each day. I mean, I always get annoying questions from teachers, and they are always really predictable and boring because their English is limited, (and apparently their imagination) but I usually just deal with it OK and don't feel like cutting myself, or them....
If I'm going to get stuck here come April, I just really have to hope that the teachers that get moved around will make a better atmosphere. Knowing my luck the cool teachers will leave and the annoying as hell ones will stay. Grr.
I know for sure that Mr. Ogoe is leaving, and he's the best one here so far. He lived in the States for a year or so, and at least picked up some things that put m e at ease (he noticed I straightened my hair, most Japanese people think that the straight is natural and that I permed my hair to get it curly. sigh)., and he doesn't ask me which is colder, Japan or the US (a flawed question because, um, Japan and the US have all different climates. Idiots).
