weekend update.
Mar. 14th, 2005 11:51 amThis weekend Ayelet came to visit because her friend was playing in Tokyo. Apparently they are pretty famous, but not too famous to get up backstage and hang out with us a bit. Saturday was a big festival, and we arrived late so we didn't see Ayelet's friends play, but we saw some other bands, and I crowd surfed for the first time! Whoo!
Sunday they played again, and this time we caught Ayelet's friends. When I heard the music mp3s it sounded a little normal, but they were really impressive live. At the end of the concert players from all the bands came out and played "smells like teen spirit." I have NEVER seen a Japanese crowd have energy like that at a concert, it's really rare to get them to even bob their heads, so it was great. Only, other people were crowd surfing, and I lost my shoe, and I got rear-ended. Three times.
I have bruises everywhere, (shins, arms, nose, cheek, I'm a mess) but it was a satisfying weekend.
It was cool hanging out with Americans from America again. It's different from those of us who live here and have real life issues here. These people were like how we were when we first got on that bus in Narita.
Kids are practicing the songs for the graduation tomorrow. Am I ready to be bored? They are usually off key at this school more than others I've heard. I just want to stop them and direct them to the proper tones.
