And the survey says...
Jun. 2nd, 2005 11:11 amFirst I want to thank Jenn for including me in this, I really appreciate it, and we should do it again soon! Jenn brought over "Revenge of the Sith" last night, and we watched it on my computer. I meant to write a review today, but it appears I have forgotten half of the plot already....
What I DO remember is that I felt like I was watching a mediocre episode of Voyager for 3/4 of the movie. The CG was T.V. cheesy mostly, and the characters were all just sorta elements to move the plot. None of them had a soul. With the exception of maybe the last 20 or 30 minutes (like most people said) is was very very dry.
And OK, am I the only one who thought it was really sudden that Anakin (sp?) decided to become a Sith? He was good and conflicted like 3 seconds before that, and there was no "great moment" of change in him at all to signal he had become otherwise.
I won't say the movie is bad, and I was watching a smooshed version (it wasn't wide screen, but there was nothing cut off the edges). But I guess it was just how I expected it to be. There was something speacial about the original trilogy because Lucas was a nobody making movie history as he was going along. He set up the rules for action movies thereon after. But by now, those rules have become a formula, and other important factors get pushed aside. These new movies are nothing more than another formula.
And let me just finish by saying.... WHY WHY WHY were C3PO, R2D2, and Chewbacca IN these movies? They had NO purpose other than "hey, I remember those guys from the other movie." Honestly. And Yoda didn't laugh once. Not once. I mean, we all love him 'cause he's nuts and wise and all that. He would so have been the type to crack jokes in the face of death, but we got nothing. Sucks.
