It's actually just "Sherlock Holmes" in Japanese, but all the characters are doggies, so when they translated it, they took some liberties. OK, but this show is soooo adorable. I remember when Siobhan and I watched it together the first time during High School, was it? It was like our two fandoms had a wild night of passion or something.

The story in the one I watched this time involved a huge golden piggy bank owned by a vain rich man (the piggy bank looked like him, so I guess it was a doggy bank) who called Sherlock out there for 20 missing pieces of gold (he had like 250,000 total. Watson was so pissed it was funny). The rich guy would put money into it by giving a piece of gold to this bird that would then put the money into the slot at the top. Now, after Watson gets all PO'ed, and the rich guy is doing all that explaining, Watson is in the background doing some bizarre dance wiggling his butt and taunting the bird. What a loon! But he wasn't stupid about it, just crazy!

My last comment on the Japanese version is that the English voice for Holmes was far cuter. The voice he had in this one was way too... typical male anime hero voice. The English one was so adorable! Though, I think it may be because of the same reason the Cowboy Bebop dub is bearable; the theme is much more accessible to the average western voice actor. I mean, Japanese dubs of quintessential American movies (Being John Malcovitch, for example) are equally atrocious to me.
