Full Days!
Jul. 22nd, 2006 10:56 amKerri has come to visit me, and I made sure to pack our schedule full for the short time she will be here. Took her to school on Wed. and Thurs. And Thursday evening, we jumped on an overnight bus to Kyoto.
It was a little bit of a rough ride, but we did get some sleep. The good thing, is we arrived in Kyoto at 6am! We walked to Nijyo Castle, the Imperial Palace, found a couple of shrines dedicated to the Chinese zodiac animals, took the subway to Ginkakuji (Silver Temple) and shopped at Kiomizudera temple.
After all that it was only 5:30! But we saved a lot by walking. After we finished at Kiyomizudera, we rushed to Osaka to meet Ruben, Yuko, Erin and her sister, and Ruben's friend Mark. We went to a yakiniku place (bbq meat place) where it was hard to find a non-meat dish. It was a little scary though, because the burner was not integrated into the table like all the other places I've been, it was a little contraption placed on top, with the gas line practically wrapped around my leg... just a small hazard....
Ruben was kind enough to let us spend the night, and now we are getting ready to go meet Yuko at her University and intimidate all her friends with out foreignerness. That'll be fun. From there, it's Nara baby.
More to come.
