I got offered my first job! It's for a front desk at a hotel in Fishkill.
And the day after I got offered that job, Woodbury Commons calls me about an position available in their customer service department. If I get that one it'll take some thinking about which one to choose.
Here are the stats:
Hotel job Pros: Close to home (less gas money), even paced job. Decent pay @ $10/hr. Possible benefits if I average over 30 hours a week. *EDIT It's one of the nicer hotels in the area, and it's small, so not too many people staying at once.*
Cons: Limited use of Japanese, the front desk manager smelled like "I'm trying to cover up my smoking with Dentyne gum" and has an annoying attitude, pissy occupants.
Commons Job Pros: Lots of opportunity to use Japanese, fast paced job, close to cheaper designer clothes. Female manager, sounds pleasant enough (but who really knows?) and flexible.
cons: 25 min commute, plus crossing a bridge *EDIT calculated commute cost was $10 round trip, Rude customers,* Less pay @ $9.25/hr. (but claims we'll be getting a $.75 increase by Jan.), Near a lot of cheap designer clothes... And it's essentially a retail position. (selling gift cards and bus tickets, etc.)
It's a hard choice, especially when I weigh the Japanese usage so heavily. What do ya'll think?
