Jan. 10th, 2008 10:16 amThat led us to wonder what the advantage of such a situation evolving would be. I postulated that if women in the past could just never have kids, they probably wouldn't from a rational point of view. Robyn made the good point, though, that women have this annoying tendency to choose men who are stronger than they are, in the hopes that the man will protect them. So when men are bred to be ogres, I frankly am not surprised they lost all respect for us. It was expected that all that strength to be turned against women, but that's a small price to pay for protection I guess?
And that brings us to now, where strength has little to do with your success in life. Yet, we are still condemned to be victims of that inequality. My point is that women have no one but themselves to blame for this shit. Well, not the women of today, but we gotta pay for stupid choices in the past. I suppose it seemed the right thing to do then. I just hate having to rely on the good nature of men. What's the point if every time you leave yourself alone with one you put yourself at risk? Now at least it's the socially moral thing for men to be gracious. But in the past? Not so much.
Don't fret all of you, this isn't prompted by any specific event. I was just reading a medieval themed book and saw Pride and Prejudice and it made me think of all of this. Discussion is welcome.
