another sweet day in the city
Mar. 22nd, 2009 08:37 pmSo yesterday was ridiculous and will make a good story, but it was a little bit of a waste overall. at least it was raining, and so the fact that we didn't accomplish anything wasn't as bad as it could have been. There was really excellent el salvadorian food involved, however, and that was great.
Today we spent another day in the city, and really got a lot into it. decided to drive in and had lots of luck with parking, yey!
Started out trying to get tickets to see wicked, which didn't work at all. then we drove across the golden gate bridge, walked around sausalito (pretty! and hilly and yuppie). On our way back across the bridge we stopped randomly at the Palace of Fine Arts theater, which was beautiful but closed for renovations or something. So we just walked around it and saw people with their kids and dogs and feeding the birds.
Also jumped over to Ghiradelli Square, and went to some of the souvenier shops. I had to parallel park, and some hobo guy helped me, so i felt obligated to give him money for it. he didn't seem like he would have gotten angry if i hadn't tipped him, and i wondered if that attitude actually gets him more donations rather than being aggressive.
we headed out then to chinatown, had dinner at a place.... i forget where but it was good.
finally we drove to mission area to meet up with scott who lives around here. it was really awesome to see him again, we had fun catching up about things. can't believe it's been almost ten years, he looks great and totally the same. maybe thinner but i'm not sure i remember his weight at all.
Tomorrow we are going to attempt san jose/santa clara again. lets hope for better directions, less rain, and more tourism. squee!
