wow, update!
May. 2nd, 2005 12:03 amFirst of all, Happy Easter to all you Greek Orthodox people out there. Christos Anesti.
It's Golden Week here in Japan so I have vacation all week..... except Friday. It's weird, I know. Suzuki Sensei took me with her on a hiking trip to Nagano. Ahh, it was so good. We went to one mountain on the first day where there are supposed to be a lot of flowers. There were some, but they were little, but the whole place was covered in snow. Still fun.
Because everything else was full, we spent the night at a Japanese style Inn. I was psyched, even though Sensei was apologetic. This place was SOO high up on a mountain, it was amazing. Just turn after turn. Once we got there though, it was plain but quaint. Staying there as like staying in someone's house. They brought us some tea and snacks to the room, and we took a short nap.
There was one bathroom on the first floor (one place, but several stalls). We took a bath and wore the kimono robes to dinner. It was a pain to sit in those robes because if you sit any other way than seiza (the style that hurts your ankles) then people can see up your kimono. And since I had just come from the bath, all I had on under there was my underwear.
The next day the weather was sunny and hot. This time the mountain we climbed was steep and rocky, but I was just having a blast. Sensei was having a hard time, and we had to stop often to let her rest. We ate at the top (word of that day choujyou) and then went back down, which was quick. Went to an onsen after that, ahh so relaxing. I was so tired but I felt great. I love that sort of stuff. Hiking is great. However I realized that I need new sneakers badly. Other battle scars include a bruised knee, and a small patch of sunburn where it appears I forgot to apply.
Pictures when my batteries charge.
